Tutorial: Transfer Images to Canvas in as little as 15 minutes!

transfer image to canvas

Ok I have been trying for YEARS and I mean YEARS to figure out a solid image transfer technique. Lost of trial and error, wasted money and materials (all in the name of creativeness. I mean I did enjoy figuring this all out) and FINALLY I’ve got it figured out. If you want a tutorial on this one, let me know! Just leave a comment and I’ll work on one πŸ˜‰

It’s not a perfect image transfer but it’s so easy and literally takes about 15 minutes from start to finish.. and frankly, if you wanted perfect, then just print out a photo and Mod Podge it ;).Β  It’s ridiculous how simple this is!

I’m making these for wall art in our home and at my office, as well as making them for family for Christmas (shh, if your family reading this you’ll likely be unwrapping one of these!). I love how they turn out a bit vintage and distressed but really transfer the image so well!

The key was using a laser photo copy, Golden Fluid Matte medium (HAS to be the FLUID version not the Gel version), a brayer and a WOOD canvas, not regular canvas. I finished them with scrapbook paper edges in complementary colors, then Mod Podged in Matte to finish it all off.Β  I didn’t even have to distress the images at all as the pictures themselves are “distressed” by the transfer process!

I LOVE This project! I am going to start doing “mommy craft nights” and this will likely be the first project! so much fun and so rewarding when your done.

Happy Crafting!

      1. Ever write the tutorial? Just wondering how you did it all in 15 minutes…you must not wait until the photo dries before rewetting and peeling off the paper backing?? Do tell πŸ˜‰ I’d love to make these for Christmas gifts!!

        1. it’s the gell medium. I use “golden FLUID Matte medium, you don’t need to let it dry overnight like you do with Mod Podge.. I’m hoping to get more details on the How To shortly πŸ™‚

  1. Intrigued with this technique! Am first going to try the marble tile transfers but would love to use the wood canvas. Where do you purchase the wood canvas? A tutorial would be most helpful. Mary
