Ok I have been trying for YEARS and I mean YEARS to figure out a solid image transfer technique. Lost of trial and error, wasted money and materials (all in the name of creativeness. I mean I did enjoy figuring this all out) and FINALLY I’ve got it figured out. If you want a tutorial on this one, let me know! Just leave a comment and I’ll work on one 😉
It’s not a perfect image transfer but it’s so easy and literally takes about 15 minutes from start to finish.. and frankly, if you wanted perfect, then just print out a photo and Mod Podge it ;). It’s ridiculous how simple this is!
I’m making these for wall art in our home and at my office, as well as making them for family for Christmas (shh, if your family reading this you’ll likely be unwrapping one of these!). I love how they turn out a bit vintage and distressed but really transfer the image so well!
The key was using a laser photo copy, Golden Fluid Matte medium (HAS to be the FLUID version not the Gel version), a brayer and a WOOD canvas, not regular canvas. I finished them with scrapbook paper edges in complementary colors, then Mod Podged in Matte to finish it all off. I didn’t even have to distress the images at all as the pictures themselves are “distressed” by the transfer process!
I LOVE This project! I am going to start doing “mommy craft nights” and this will likely be the first project! so much fun and so rewarding when your done.
